  1. Quoting Policy

  3. When you reply to a message, Power-QWK assembles a reply file 
  4. containing the body of the message to which you are replying.
  5.  
  6. Your editor program is then called so that you can modify the 
  7. reply file, adding your own message and optionally retaining 
  8. part or all of the original message.
  9.  
  10. The body of the original message can be optionally highlighted 
  11. using any combination of three strings known as Preamble, 
  12. Postamble and Quoting String.
  13.  
  14. For instance, if you select a Quoting String of ">" with no 
  15. Preamble or Postamble and ask for 'First of message' Quoting
  16. Style then, when you reply to a message from John or Jane Doe,
  17. their message in the reply file will be highlighted thus:

  19. JD>This is the original
  20.   >message from John or
  21.   >Jane Doe.
  22.  
  23.   >and this is the second
  24.   >paragraph.

  26. You could ask for 'Head of paragraph' Quoting Style, in which case
  27. the same message would look like this:

  30.   >message from John or
  31.   >Jane Doe.

  33. JD>and this is the second
  34.   >paragraph.

  36. Optionally, you can elect to have the sender's initials on every 
  37. line:

  44. JD>paragraph.

  46. If, however, you choose a Quoting string of "║" with a Preamble 
  47. of "  ╔══════════" and a Postamble of "  ╚═════════" then the 
  48. sender's message will be highlighted as shown below (again, you 
  49. could have the sender's initials on every line or just at the
  50. head of each paragraph if you wish):

  61. Power-QWK offers a choice of two types of Preamble, two types of  
  62. Postamble and five types of quoting string. You also have the 
  63. option of creating your own strings, or not using any of the 
  64. strings, or using any subset of Preamble, Postamble and Quoting 
  65. String.

  67. You can also opt for Quoting styles of 'First in message', 'None',
  68. 'Head of paragraph' or 'All lines'.
